Revision of Syllabus and Examination Pattern for Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) in the Indian Postal Department

Revision of Syllabus and Examination Pattern for Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) in the Indian Postal Department

In a significant update from the Government of India’s Ministry of Communications, Department of Posts, a revision has been announced concerning the syllabus and examination pattern for the recruitment of Multi Tasking Staff (MTS). This change, detailed in a recent circular dated 10th July 2024, brings important modifications that aspiring candidates should note.

#### Key Changes in the Examination Pattern

The Competent Authority has reviewed the existing syllabus and pattern for the posts of MTS, Postman, and Mail Guard. One of the notable changes is the removal of the local language test (Paper-III) for the MTS position. This revision is aimed at streamlining the recruitment process and making it more accessible for candidates across different regions. The update modifies Annexure-I of the previous letter no. 17-08/2018-SPB-I dated 5th April 2022.

Implications for Aspiring Candidates

1. **For MTS Aspirants**: Candidates who are solely interested in applying for the MTS positions no longer need to appear for the local language test (Paper-III). This change is expected to reduce the preparation burden and simplify the selection process.

2. **For Postman and Mail Guard Aspirants**: Candidates who wish to be considered for the posts of Postman and Mail Guard must still appear for the local language test (Paper-III). This requirement ensures that candidates for these positions possess the necessary local language proficiency, which is crucial for their roles.

#### Communication to Concerned Circles

The Department of Posts has directed all Chief Postmasters General, Postmasters General, Chief General Managers of BD Directorate/Parcel Directorate/PLI Directorate, Directors of RAKNPA/GM, CEPT/Directors of all PTCs, Additional Director General of Army Postal Service, New Delhi, and all General Managers (Finance)/Directors of Postal Accounts/DAP to disseminate this information to all relevant stakeholders.

#### Conclusion

This revision marks a positive step towards simplifying the recruitment process for MTS positions while maintaining the essential requirements for Postman and Mail Guard roles. Candidates are advised to stay updated with the latest notifications from the Department of Posts to ensure they meet the revised criteria and prepare accordingly.
